Preparing for a baby: important tips

Once pregnancy is discovered, birth seems a long way off. However, it is important to plan ahead, so that the arrival of the new family member is more relaxed and stress-free. That’s why we’ve drawn up a checklist to help you prepare for a baby, month by month! Come check it out!

Month 1

It happened! You’ve found out you’re going to be a mom and you’re in mixed feelings. Once the euphoria is over, it’s time to start the preparations. This is the perfect moment to find a very reliable and credible professional to accompany you throughout your pregnancy, providing the care you deserve, whenever you need it. It is worth asking here for references from friends and family and doing a lot of research.

Month 2

From the second month on, it’s important to pay special attention to your skin. While preparing for a baby, abuse the oils and moisturizers recommended by the doctor to avoid the dreaded stretch marks. Thus, your skin will always be hydrated and free of any damage. Oh, and remember to eat healthy foods and drink plenty of water!

Month 3

Between 11 and 14 weeks, the long-awaited time for the morphological test has arrived. In it, the doctor checks the development of all organs and the sex of the little one. With this, it is possible to organize a baby shower, choose the name and start planning the decoration of the baby’s room.

Many parents also prefer to wait for the third month to announce to everyone that the family is going to increase, as the pregnancy will already be less risky, and the belly will begin to appear.

Month 4

During the 4th month it is interesting to start a light physical activity, suitable for the gestation period. Talk to your doctor and start exercising to eliminate swelling and be more energetic!

It is also here that many mothers begin to assemble the baby’s trousseau and choose the cutest outfits to dress them with great affection. Don’t forget to choose your maternity leave outfit!

Month 5

It’s time to think about whether you need to make any adaptations or reforms in the baby’s room. Choose furniture well, thinking not only about beauty, but also about comfort, practicality, and quality of the items. Pay attention to the delivery time to avoid delays.

Month 6

Preparing for a baby in the 6th month involves deciding whether you want to have a baby shower or not. Think fondly, as it’s a nice party that brings you closer to your friends and family and allows them to show their affection through gifts.

At this stage, it is also interesting to decide on the hospital where the baby will be born, if your obstetrician will be able to assist you there, and if he has an agreement with your health plan (if private).

Month 7

At this stage, it is important to decide on the type of birth you want to have: natural birth, cesarean section, humanized birth, or home birth, in short… the list is long. With that decision made, preparations for the big day end up being more peaceful.

It’s also a good time to order maternity visit favors, and door decorations. Plan all the details to welcome your baby!

Month 8

In the 8th month, it’s time to wash the baby’s clothes with neutral liquid soap and specific fabric softener. These items should be used separately.

Also start organizing what you will carry in the maternity bag, that is, items for you, the baby, and the companion. Do not forget the necessary documents for admission.

Month 9

Finally, you’re on the home stretch! Obstetrician appointments are now weekly, and anxiety is only increasing!

If you have a car, try to install the car seat securely so that it is ready to take the baby home from the maternity ward.

From now on, it’s important to keep in mind that the baby could arrive at any moment. So, enjoy the last belly moments and take lots of pictures.
